Our conductor

Since February 2013 Coen Huisman is the conductor of the Rotterdam Student Orchestra. At an early age, Coen started playing piano and various copper instruments. While studying Maths at the University of Leiden, he played in many student orchestras in the region and started to develop an interest in conducting. From 2010 to 2014, Coen studied orchestra conducting at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam with Hans Leenders. Coen finished his study with an impressive performance of Igor Stravinsky’s Pétrouchka.
